So what does it mean to follow your heart?
It’s when you listen to and follow that strange feeling inside you.
Or to put it into other terms, it’s to simply just follow your gut instinct. And when you do you’ll ask yourself why you didn’t do it sooner.
Your gut instinct is just your intuition or second brain. It processes information from your environment much faster than your thinking mind can. This is why you sometimes get a bad feeling after you walk into a room or meet somebody for the first time.
You’re unknowingly processing things your conscious mind cannot process fast enough.
It’s the part of you that knows something that the outside you and everyone else around you doesn’t know. This intuition knows what’s best for your life but it can only guide you step by step. It won’t show you the whole staircase because life just isn’t simply linear the way we think it is.
Life is dynamic and the variables are always changing.
Your friends, family, and society will only give you guidelines. But your gut will show you the way.
Time has proven that my gut instinct is like a compass that has never lead me astray.
I ended up far ahead in the areas where most people simply followed instructions.
Living this way can be scary but it’s how we were meant to live.
Our ancestors lived most fully when they embraced the unknown. They didn’t always know where their next meal came from but it brought them more joy, excitement, pain, love and connection than the ones stuck working in life numbing jobs.
When you first start on this path you encounter what’s called beginner’s luck. It’s euphoric, effortless, joyful and exciting! It whets your appetite for more to come.
Then shortly after you will encounter some kind of resistance. It’s how life tests you to see how bad and how far you are willing to go for it. Life will ask you if you’re really serious about this.
You have to keep trying no matter what results you are getting now; before you get into flow and everything moves along effortlessly.
It’s called the Persistence Test.
You might find yourself having to start all over again after failure. But this time from a different angle with a different set of knowledge and experience.
This is the resistance.
We have light bulbs today because Thomas Edison kept going after discovering 10,000 ways not to make one.
Your family and friends will tell you to stop dreaming and quit. But you can’t listen.
You might notice your friends start landing great jobs or they end up finding the right partner in a sea of unsuitable fish when it seemed they would be single forever. And you’re still behind.
And then a voice in the back of your head tells you to just stay comfortable. It says “You don’t have to change, it’s nice here.” But if you decide to stay, the resentment will kick in and you’ll regret your choices.
When you decide to leave the conventional way and go your own you take the path of the rebel but you won’t live with the regret of your past choices.
When you do what everyone else does you’ll end up just like everyone else. Are you okay with working a soul crushing job like them? Or do you want to be a success where they look at you with the wide eyes and think “how did they do that?”
It’s funny how life works that way. This is the resistence I’m talking about.
Those who pass this test deserve everything they ever wanted and worked for.
When you first start, there’s always outside circumstances trying to stop you. When you let in the light of your intuition more and more, the easier things get.
Those who pick themselves up after defeat and keep on trying, arrive; and the world cries “Bravo! I knew you could do it!” The hidden guide lets no one enjoy great achievement without first passing the PERSISTENCE TEST. Those who can’t take it, simply do not make the grade.
Those who can “take it” are bountifully rewarded for their PERSISTENCE. They receive, as their compensation, whatever goal they are pursuing.

When you follow your heart you will end up miles ahead, do what you love and get paid generously for it. You might even be regarded as a genius – so don’t listen to what they say.
You have to pass the test first.
Your friend,
Jamie
